Competitive strategies on behalf of international niche market leaders: evidence from the Basque Country

Revisa la presencia y los modus operandi estratégicos de empresas vascas que son considerados como líderes en nichos de mercado internacionales. Enseña como dichas empresas contribuyen más que sus pares al comercio exterior de la economía vasca. Revela como la mayoría de ellos sacan provecho de “ventajas del primer entrante” al posicionarse de forma temprana en los nichos de mercado que se proponen conquistar.
Nazioarteko merkatu nitxoetan lidertzat hartzen diren euskal enpresen presentzia eta lan egiteko modu estrategikoa aztertzen du. Lanak agerian jartzen du enpresa horiek beren parekoek baino ekarpen handiagoa egiten diotela euskal ekonomiaren kanpo merkataritzari. Aditzera ematen du horietako gehienek etekina ateratzen dietela “sartzen den lehenengoaren abantailei”, goiz kokatzen baitira konkistatu nahi dituzten merkatu nitxoetan.
This paper reviews the presence and strategic operating methods of Basque companies that are considered leaders in international niche markets. It shows how these companies contribute more than their peers to the foreign trade of the Basque economy. It reveals how most of them take advantage of 'first mover advantages' by positioning themselves early in the niche markets they aim to conquer.
